Here in Nevada and Lyon County people do have real problems. Unemployment remains at over 10%, businesses are starving and local governmental services continue to struggle. Unemployment would be much higher if not for the large number of people that have left the County and the workforce. There are no more jobs here than there were four years ago as previously reported on this site.

But we are people with a solution. We have a jobs and economic bill in Congress that would expedite development of a $1 billion mine that would create 1,000 direct jobs. It has languished for too long in Congress.

Congress need not search for solutions to our problems. We here in Lyon County have spent more than four years developing a solution: the Lyon County Economic Development and Conservation Act (H.R. 696, which is also part of H.R. 433 and Senate bill S. 159).

Our message to Congress and House Majority Leader Cantor:

WE HAVE A SOLUTION. It is ready for action in the House, so yes Majority Leader Cantor, you can help. You are the Majority Leader until July 31. Bring the bill to the floor, pass the bill and create jobs!
